New Surgical Trauma ICU unit at Texas Health Dallas is looking to add to it’s team. Are you one of us? If you are thrilled by high acuity, fast paced environment, this is the right setting for you.

The Surgical Trauma Intensive Care Unit (STICU) at Texas Health Dallas (THD) is a twenty-four bed acute care ICU which houses a combination of Cardiovascular Surgery, Neuroscience Surgery, and Trauma.

The Cardiovascular Surgery population consists of post-operative open heart (CABG/Valve surgery/complex Cath Lab procedure requiring higher level of care), thoracic abdominal repairs, and vascular surgical patients.

Our Neuroscience patients include post-operative craniotomy/craniectomy, general neuroscience patients, aneurysm and post-TPA patients for stroke. THD is a comprehensive stroke center that also cares for neuro-radiological intervention patients which includes mechanical clot retrieval, aneurysm clipping, and angiograms. We at THD just received Level II Trauma designation. We care for a wide variety of trauma patients and are currently working to achieve Level I designation. The STICU team is dedicated to taking exceptional care of our patients and follow our promise, “Individuals caring for individuals….together”.

The new medical complex is devoted to intensive care for the region’s most critically ill patients. Our intensivist program puts the care of ICU patients under the guidance of board-certified critical care physicians, who directly oversee patient care in the ICU throughout the day. Physicians are available 24 hours.

Critical care nurses, nurse practitioners and physician assistants — all trained in critical care medicine — help provide care in the ICU around the clock. Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas Critical Care Units are located in the Hamon Tower, the largest expansion in the hospital’s history, which was opened in 2009

Job Requirements

**** Shift: 7P – 7A for a total of 36 hours per week and Every weekend with two major and two minor holiday requirements ****

In order to qualify for this the following criteria must be met:

* Graduate of a NLN (National League of Nursing) or CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) accredited nursing programs.

*BSN preferred. RNs hired after January, 2014, require completion of BSN within 3 years of start date. RNs hired within THR after December, 2016, require completion of BSN within 2 years of start date.

*One year experience as a clinical nurse, or completion of an RN residency program, or acceptance into a THR residency program.

**One year of Surgical or Trauma ICU experience strongly preferred

* Current AHA BLS & ACLS training
